How do I get to GF Strong?
G.F.Strong is located on the corner of Laurel St. and West 26th Ave. Laurel runs parallel to Oak street and is one block East of Oak.

What are the visiting hours?
Anytime while the patient is not in rehabilitation therapy from 10:00am until 4:00pm. Visiting hours are over at 9:00pm. Please be thoughtful of noise to roommates when visiting. Family or friends may come to treatment sessions if the therapist is informed before the appointment.

Where is the parking for GF Strong?
There is a free visitor parking lot north of the main building. Parking for people with disabilities is available and clearly marked outside the main entrance. For more parking and overnight stays, you can use the Children's & Women's Hospital pay parking lot; the entrance is on West 28th Ave.

Can I use a cell phone at GF Strong?
You may use cell phones: in the main lobby, in the basement, or in your own room if it does not interfere with the well-being of other clients. You may NOT use cell phones in the treatment area, on patient floors, within two meters of any pacemaker, power wheelchair or near a ventilator.

How do you get referred or admitted to GF Strong?
Patients must be referred by a physician. Your doctor should call the "Intake Office" at GF Strong (604)734-1313 for an understanding of the process
based on the client’s need. Information about the client’s major goals is
helpful. Hours of operation may vary for the "Intake Office". Presently
the hours are: Monday and Thursday, 8am to 2:30pm. Tuesday and
Wednesday, 8am to 12:30pm.

How do we rent rooms for meetings?

We are found under the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.

What kind of doctors do "rehab medicine?"
Physiatrists are doctors that have specialized in rehab medicine. Other specialists are involved depending on patient need e.g. orthopaedic surgeons, rheumatologists, psychiatrists, neurologists etc.

Where can I purchase personal items and gifts?
The King Edward Mall is situated right across the street from G.F.Strong Rehab Centre. Merchants at the stores are familiar in assisting people with disabilities. There is a gift shop at Children's Hospital by the main lobby. There are several stores on Oak St., north of West King Edward St.

Where is G.F.Strong located in relation to Vancouver General Hospital?
GF Strong is located 14 blocks due south of Vancouver General Hospital.

Where is GF Strong in Children's relation to Children's Hospital?
The South Exit of GF Strong is located right across the street from the north area of Children's Hospital.

Can I borrow a wheelchair or equipment from GF Strong?
Patients who have been admitted to GF Strong can borrow a wheelchair or equipment on a temporary basis. Sometimes equipment is loaned to community therapists for clinical evaluations such as augmentative communication devices. Wheelchair dealers will often loan people wheelchairs, also the Canadian Red Cross, and several disability associations.
